Bible journaling should not put you in debt or force you to take out a second mortgage on your home. 😉 Don’t get me wrong. If I purchased all the mediums, tools and supplies available, I’d need to apply for a line of credit from my bank. There are so so so many amazing items you can purchase and use for your journaling life. However, bible journaling is about praising and glorifying the Lord in a creative way and I have no doubt that the Father would frown upon going broke just to do that.
Don’t Go Broke!
A pen is truly the only Bible journaling supply you need to start, but I’ve included a few more items you may just have lying around the house somewhere. If you don’t have the items on this list, that is perfectly all right. Again, all you need is a pen.
5 (+ 1) Basic Bible Journaling Supplies
- pen (black, if possible)
- pencil
- eraser
- pencil sharpener
- colored pencils
- highlighter (if you want to use it to highlight text)
That’s it! There isn’t a long list of must-have items you’ll need to begin journaling.
Remember this…
START WHEREVER YOU ARE, WITH WHATEVER YOU HAVE, WHENEVER YOU CAN!
Finishing Touch…
If you remember only one thing, it should be this quote from New York Times Bestselling author, Jon Acuff, “DON’T COMPARE YOUR BEGINNING TO SOMEONE ELSE’S MIDDLE.”
Comparison is not a good thing. It will never matter what someone else is creating in their own Bible. This is about your walk of faith and your own personal relationship with the Lord. God isn’t comparing your love for Him against somebody else’s love for Him, so don’t you compare yourself either.
In Galations 1:10 of the New American Standard Bible it reads, “For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.”
NOTE: If you want to add to your supplies, I will be expanding on this post to include items you can purchase if you have an extra $25, $50, $75, or $100. I will link that post here, so check back soon.
