Lately I’ve been looking more into mixed-media. Personally, I love the look and find the multiple mediums are often forgiving. I love how it appears random and sometimes messy, yet it’s anything but.
Jane Davenport is a mixed-media artist and has her own line of products, which you can purchase at Michael’s. Her collage paper looked interesting, so I thought I would try it out, not really knowing what “IT” was.
As I discovered, collage papers are similar to decorative napkins. They are vibrant and colorful, and these ones include some of Davenport’s stunningly unique sketches. They are used in the same way as the napkin decoupage technique. You simply remove the backing and adhere it to your page covered with matte gel medium, and then seal it with the same product.
After my first experience with Davenport’s collage paper, I fell in love. Again, this product does not require artistic skills of any kind. It is a simple, yet beautiful tool.
The ones I purchased included watercolor images, abstract watercolor shapes, sketches of women, and more. There is a variety of art printed on the collage paper and I’ve already thought of over twenty different verses I could use them for. You should be able to stretch these graphics out over many scriptures.

Finishing Touch…
I now consider Davenport’s collage paper a must-have in my collection of Bible journaling supplies. They are so versatile and can surely be used whether you’re creating in or out of your Bible. I’ve used this product in my Bible, a traveler’s notebook and on canvas, and it worked well with all three. If you’re in the market to try something new, yet simple to use, I suggest picking up a pack of Jane Davenport’s collage papers, some matte gel medium, and clothing yourself with a fun spirit. Add those together for one of many enjoyable afternoons you’ll have with these collage papers.
