What’s Your Word?

[This post may include affiliate links. Visit our Principles page, for full disclosure.]

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”

~Deuteronomy 31:6 NASB
What's your word of the year? Take the quiz NOW and find motivation for the new year. #hispalette #biblejournaling #illustratedfaith

Every year, just before January 1, I choose a word to focus on for the next 365. The last few years, I have taken a small online quiz that spits out a word based on my answers. This is just one fun way I come up with my word of the year.

Option: I also choose one or two Bible verses for the new year as well.

Brave

Just days before 2018, I took Dayspring’s Word Of The Year quiz. My word for the past year was BRAVE. So I spent all of 2018 trying my very best to be brave.

What's your word of the year? Take the quiz NOW and find motivation for the new year. #hispalette #biblejournaling #illustratedfaith #wordoftheyear #wordoftheyearideas #choosingawordoftheyear #ideas #2019 #Christian

I missed the mark many days this last year, but I also purposefully searched for ways to be brave. I can honestly say, I was able to be brave more often than I was not.

There are a handful of brave acts from 2018, that I would’ve never guessed I’d be brave enough or strong enough to accomplish. But because “brave” was my focus and God was my strength, I made an intentional effort to be BRAVE.

Courage

My word for 2019 is COURAGE!

I know. I know. You’re probably thinking, “Isn’t that the same as brave?” And you’re kind of right. I thought the same thing when I saw my quiz results.

First, there are a gazillion and one things that the Lord would like us to do or prepare for, that takes much longer than 365 days. Fact is, one year isn’t that long, especially when we’re talking about our eternal life. So overcoming fear may be just one of those gazillion things.

The difference between brave and COURAGE is how I, myself, see these two words and how I will focus differently this year. I plan to find courage in the uncomfortable places.

I will trust God in all things, especially the things outside of my comfort zone.

With that said, the His Palette community can expect new and exciting projects in 2019. The ideas that I’ve been afraid to try in 2018 and have been afraid of failing, will be unleashed this year.

A Look Ahead

Here is a sneak peek of just some of the ideas we plan on implementing in 2019.

  1. Deets & Dittos Library

As we continue to add to our collection of free printables, we will create a resource library, where you can find all of our “dittos” in one place.

  2. Happy Mail

Most of you know already that I love surprises (and love surprising others). We are in the process of setting up a way to submit your own address to our fun unexpected happy mail list.

  3. Idea Box

This year we will provide our community with a way to share their ideas with us and suggest future projects. This includes the ability to suggest verses or topics or words for us to use in a prospective post or study.

  4. Process Videos

The scariest on the list, by far, will be process videos. I have never much cared for seeing myself on video. Truth be told, “video me” annoys real-life-me. LOL. Please pray that quality doesn’t show through too often.

Finishing Touch…

Now it’s your turn! Are you ready to discover your word of the year? Check out Dayspring’s Word Of The Year Quiz. Then swing back by and share your word here in the comments.

Hey creative sisters! So week 2 of #if_messtomessa Hey creative sisters!
So week 2 of #if_messtomessage is MASTERPIECE. @confidentcanvas is really speaking to my heart with her devotional. I included one of my favorite quotes in my journaling, that goes perfectly with this week's reading.
"You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress simultaneously." I also included the lyrics to the Tori Kelly song (Masterpiece) on the next two pages. #hispalette #biblejournaling #biblejournalingcommunity #illustratedfaithcommunity #travelersnotebook #travelersjournal
Good morning creative sisters! I have had these gr Good morning creative sisters! I have had these green alphas for what seems like forever. And though my fave color since Jr. High has been green, I realize I don't use much of it in my art or journaling. Finally found a page/project I wanted to use these with. 😉 The focus verse for this page is 1 Chronicles 16:11. The verse talks about seeking the Lord. His face.
When I think about what happens when I seek His face, the words clear, sharpen, clarity come to my mind. Whenever I feel like I dont know what's going on or I'm confused about the world or unsure of which direction I should go, I seek His face and everything makes sense. He sharpens my view.

Here is a recent page I created in my interleaved Here is a recent page I created in my interleaved Bible. I wanted to write some very raw emotions in my journaling, so these pictures are #beforethepen . The focus verse is 1 Peter 5:9. The printables I used for these pages are from the "You Are My Anchor" kit, which you can find in our print shop. One of my favorite verses in this Skillet song are "Don't let go. I know that I'll drown on my own." If you haven't had a chance to listen to or read the lyrics, be sure to look them up. They are powerful! #hispalette #biblejournaling #biblejournalingcommunity #bibleartjournaling #interleavedbible
